There is no need to see a GP to be referred to the midwife (unless you have any worries or concerns).
Once you have confirmed you are pregnant simply ring the Surgery and give your details (name, address, phone no and first day of your last period) to the Receptionist.
You will be then be contacted by the midwife usually within two weeks to arrange a home visit when you can discuss your options.
If you have any concerns about the pregnancy before the midwife contacts you then please ring the surgery.
There are two community midwives attached to Leighton Road Surgery.
They are Michelle Brown and Mandy Garner.
You have a choice of three hospitals in this area:
Please look at their websites to help you decide at which hospital you would like to give birth.
For general information about pregnancy including foods to avoid visit the NHS Choices website and search for ‘Your Pregnancy and baby guide’.
We recommend you take folic acid 400 mcg daily to help the baby’s development.
